5 Amazing Women’s Networking Groups in the Austin Area

Austin is a city where smart, ambitious and confident women feel as if they can conquer the world. It’s also a place where these same women help each other pursue their passions; embrace their individuality; and exceed their highest expectations.

Having this diverse blend of talented women who not only offer you advice and support but also help you relax, laugh and celebrate is priceless. We want to shine a light on these ladies and give you a list of 5 amazing women’s networking groups in the Austin area.

1. Austin’s Women in Business

This group makes networking exciting, engaging and fun. They discuss different topics like day-to-day business management problems or long-term goal planning but use roundtables and meetups so members can communicate freely and share ideas in a collaborative environment.

Upcoming Events:

  • Networking at Wine Wednesday – Abel’s on the Lake
  • Wednesday, August 23, 2017
  • 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

This is an informal event where members and people from other meetups can network.

The restaurant also has 1/2 priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays and a dog-friendly environment in the back. This means that you can bring your own pooch (BYOP), and let them socialize and have some fun as well.

  • StarShip Warriors Hackathon – Amplify at the Domain
  • Saturday, August 26, 2017
  • 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM

At this event, they are bringing “business warriors” together with “tech warriors” so that they can launch & create million dollar ideas & unique powerful collaborations. They will have delicious food, drinks and a DJ there.

2. Austin Women and Wine

This unique group of women meets once a month to help empower one another, drink some good wine and provide balance in both their personal and professional lives. They also network and talk about different charities at this time. Whoever brings the most guests gets a free bottle of wine!

Upcoming Events:

  • Next Meetup – Jenna’s Asian Kitchen
  • Wednesday, September 6, 2017
  • 6:00 PM

This is something else to look forward to…

3. Texas Women in Business

These are women who clearly define what a non-profit organization is all about. They add value to their memberships by providing professional development resources; social opportunities and promoting kindness towards others.

With a focus on educating and empowering women, they give them the right tools so they can prosper and thrive in today’s economy.

They also have different events each month to give members a place to network, or just have a place to relax.

Upcoming Events:

  • Coffee Connections – Whole Foods Domain
  • Sat. August 19th, Fri. September 8th, Sat. September 16th, 2017
  • 9:45 AM CDT to 11:00 AM CDT

These are free events for both members and guests, where you can meet and mingle with ladies from all over Austin. This is the easiest way, they say, to network in town and make quality connections.

  • Havana Nights – Renaissance Hotel at Arboretum
  • Awards Gala and Fundraising Dinner
  • Friday, September 8, 2017
  • 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM

4. Young Women’s Alliance

This group is dedicated to creating Austin’s next generation of women leaders. They do this by providing access to networking, education, leadership and community service opportunities.

They offer monthly events, educational seminars and a mentorship program that pairs their members with established women in the community.

Upcoming Events:

  • Community Service Committee Meeting – ZAX Restaurant & Bar
  • Wednesday, August 23, 2017
  • 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM CST

New and veteran members are invited to join this committee and work with community organizations to plan monthly volunteer opportunities.

  • New Member Brunch – The Park at the Domain
  • Sunday, August 27, 2017
  • 11:00 AM CST

This is where you can learn more about YWA and meet fellow new members.

5. Austin’s Chapter of the National Association of Professional Women

This exclusive online community of women got its start in January 2017. There are now 379 members.

Their numbers are growing because they have a valuable forum on their website, where members can promote businesses, products or services, share ideas, experiences, and resources.

Upcoming Events:

Star Jones, NAPW President and a member of the Board of Directors, will speak at this event. Ms. Jones is a former Senior DA for the city of NY and television personality. Best known for her candor, confidence, and wit, she will talk about how women can persevere, take on new challenges and never, ever give up.

As you can see, the women of Austin take great pride in celebrating talent, brilliance, and creativity. Do you know the best way to make a great first impression at these events?

When you exchange information, a high-quality headshot on your website or social media network will allow others to put a face to your name. This goes a long way in helping them remember you.

Taking your picture, however, with a phone or another device is not the best idea because this doesn’t show someone who is confident and in control of their career.

Contact us at Korey Howell Photography today and we’ll help you show them the REAL you by helping create that great first impression!
